TRACE wins YAK 42 VIP Completion for GAZPROM

Russia's oil and gas giant GAZPROM has awarded the VIP completion of its new YAK 42 aircraft to TRACE Worldwide's Aircraft Completion Division at London's Biggin Hill Airport.

TRACE, a leader in aircraft completions, project management and technical services, has extensive capabilities in VIP and executive interior design and completion of both fixed wing and rotary aircraft.  The project will be completed at the Biggin Hill facility, which TRACE acquired in 1987.

The GAZPROM aircraft is the third out of six YAK 42 VIP conversions/completions which are the subject of an agreement between TRACE and YAK Corporation.  The first two aircraft were converted for Lukoil Corporation and the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in 1995 and 1997, respectively.

The design, developed jointly with Aircraft Modular Products (AMP), a B/E Aerospace company, creates a state-of-the-art VIP interior, with an executive state room, large salon, conference room, and high density seating area.  All individual furnishings are mounted on stressed pallets secured to aircraft interface points.  The resulting interior is the only VIP interior approved by the Russian certification authority (AR-IAC).  A highly efficient modular approach is used in the production and installation of the interior which features the finest leathers and burlwood finishes.

Extensive avionics and communications modifications will incorporate TCAS, Nav/Comm and SatCom from Rockwell Collins and in-flight entertainment system.

The YAK 42 is a mid-range jet, similar in size to a Boeing 727, designed by the Yakovlev Design Bureau, and produced by the Saratov Aviation Plant in Russia.  The aircraft is offered with optional western avionics and communication equipment.
