BAeAM ANNOUNCES NEW INITIATIVES TO SUPPORT BAe 146 BUSINESS JET MARKETING

British Aerospace Asset Management (BAeAM), the jet sales and leasing arm of British Aerospace, announced today at the Air Transport and Business Aviation (ATBA) Show in Dusseldorf a range of new initiatives to support the sale of pre-owned BAe 146s into the business jet market.

Although BAe 146s are in high demand, BAeAM is anticipating the release of a small number of Series100/200 aircraft over the next two/three years as airlines progress to the larger capacity models and new-build Avro RJs.

Capitalising on its recent sales success of aircraft to corporate customers Formula One Administration Limited of the UK and Mr W A Moncrief Jnr. Of Texas, BAeAM is currently offering a BAe 146-100 with long-range tanks to the business jet market for delivery later this year.

BAeAM has identified two Completion Centres in North America and Europe that have expressed interest in undertaking future design and conversions of airliner BAe 146s to corporate interiors. In Canada, Innotech Aviation Limited of Dorval, Quebec, part of the IMP Group International Inc., has recently completed a corporate BAe 146 interior for a customer.

"We are extremely proud of the results of our recent conversion of a BAe 146 to corporate configuration, said Dave Miller, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Innotech said. Having invested heavily in the non-recurring element of this project, we are extremely keen to undertake more work of this nature and look forward to working with British Aerospace on similar projects.

In Europe, Trace Aircraft Completions Division of Biggin Hill, Kent, UK, part of Trace Worldwide Corporation, has worked on the Formula One BAe 146 and has recently designed and costed an interior for another prospective European BAe 146 corporate customer.

John Douglass, CEO of Trace Worldwide commented: We fully support British Aerospaces initiatives to place BAe 146s into the corporate and company shuttle market. Our expertise in designing and converting aircraft, and creating Role Change Kits for VIP customers, corporate operators and airlines, will be invaluable to provide BAe and its customers with the flexibility that operators in this demanding market require.

In response to existing corporate customer demands BAeAM is investigating a development of the existing low utilisation maintenance programme used by some of its airline customers to provide a maintenance schedule more tailored to corporate operations which have utilisations typically between 400-600 hours a year.

BAeAM believes that an emerging corporate marketing opportunity is opening up for the BAe 146. The aircraft offers owners of large Stage 2 executive aircraft such as the BAC One-Eleven a relatively young and inexpensive replacement. With good Stage 3 noise margins, the BAe 146 also assures operators of a long potential service life.

In addition, the aircrafts spacious airliner cabin has a volume over three times that of current large business jets, allowing a superior executive layout to be installed, or to be configured with up to 70 airline seats, or a mixture of both. This allows the aircraft to be ideally suited to large company corporate shuttle operations.

The BAe 146s renowned airfield performance allows it to fly from restricted airfields that are denied to other jets, permitting private operations that are often closer and more convenient to the final business destination.

For certain corporate operators that need the space and performance of the BAe 146 but do not require the ultra-long range of todays bigger executive jets and corporate airliners, the BAe 146 is a feasible cost-effective alternative.

The BAe 146 complements the recently announced Avro Business Jet from British Aerospace Regional Aircraft.
